This will also help us understand why we are doing what we are doing.

In my artwork, I have chosen to "Everything happens for a reason" as my topic. This means that all though something might seem annoying, rough or out of place that everything will work out right.
I have chosen to choose this topic because I believe in Christianity which also is based around
“Everything happening for a reason”.
This also means a lot to me because it helps me get through tough or awkward situations
in
my life cause I know that in the end, everything will turn out okay.
I also wanted to do this because I thought this could be a pretty challenging topic to represent through my artwork.

I am going to represent this through my work by creating stories around characters which are obvious in
the picture and which hint at or represent the butterfly effect or Christianity.
The artist models I am looking at are Roy Lichtenstein, Bill Watterson, Takashi Murakami.
I also take inspiration from cartoon shows such as The Simpsons, The Flintstones , Rick and Morty,
Johnny Bravo and the Rugrats.
These cartoons show styles really inspired me through my childhood and today and are something I
want to represent in my artwork to show through.

My next step for this picture is to color it in and make the rocket ship stream stand out.
My next for this is laying out my folio and seeing where and if it fits in.
At the start of the year I started planning like what my artwork was going to look like and how everything was going to fit in with each other.
In April I started expriementing with diffrent types of art styles. I wanted to go for a cartoony but dark kinda vibe ( thats why I experimented with Manga.)
In July I was working on this peice of art. I wanted to have a smile drawn onto the mirror to show how she's mentally unstable and for some reason it kind of reminded me of the scream by Edvard Munch which also inspired alot of my other artworks.
Then in the closing months I put all my drawings , paintings and everything together and I realised I needed one more painting. As you can see by the pictures I drew this plane captain guy which I was inspired by Cartoons like Bro Town for some weird reason.
So when we talked it was "everything happens for a reason" to which I added "for every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction" which is physics based. I think this likely connects nicely to your personal faith too, as 'God's Plan' is likely an aspect of that?
ReplyDeleteopposites, obvious natural contrasts put together would be something for you to think about as you go through the year.
Artists you could start with looking at would be Henry Darger
https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2005/jan/12/art
He was a loner who constructed his own happy universe in Art and writing. Never discovered til after he died as being a great artist, his work is religious and philosophical. When you read about him and look at his work, you will have to remember, he was treated appallingly as an outsider. This will have made him seem more odd to society. Autism was not even a word used during his time. Please have a look.
Please still look up Henry Darger! honestly it will suit some of your ideas! Good work so far in finding your artist models.
